Erek Kuehn was born in 1974 (Suhl, Thuringia) and finished studying Design at the Bauhaus-University of Weimar in 2000. During that time he shot a lot of live action short films, which were supported by his friend and teacher Guenter Reisch; sometimes he also appeared as actor in other productions of students. After being 2nd assistant director to Joseph Orr (Ninas Geschichte) and Christian Wagner (Ghettokids), he did work at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, and finally set up for himself by creating Randlicht Film in 2004.
